Hyde Church of England Primary School

Our Church

Our School has a Church of England foundation and ethos which permeates school life. We have a long history of close links with the Church of the Holy Ascension, Hyde. Our Vicar leads collective worship in school every week and is also a Governor of our school. We celebrate the major Christian festivals at church and the children take an active part in bringing the bible stories to life through song and performance. These special services are highlights of our school calendar and are joyful occasions for our whole school family.

Through Religious Education we seek to promote the religious, spiritual, moral and cultural development of our children. We encourage them to reflect on and respond to religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, insights and experiences. We teach the values of Christianity within a wider appreciation of world religions and focus on tolerance and understanding which is such an important part of multi-cultural modern Britain.

Prayers.jpgOur Church is very welcoming to all our school families and organises a `Messy Church` event once a month after school which involves fun creative activities and games, bible stories, performance, songs, supper for the children and teas and coffees for mums and dads.

In line with the Education Reform Act 1988, parents have the right to withdraw their children from both Religious Education and Collective Worship. However it is our hope that by choosing to send their children to this church school parents will be happy to allow their children to participate.
