Hyde Church of England Primary School

Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools

All Church of England dioceses and the Methodist Church use the National Society's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS), to carry out inspections.  The principal objective of a SIAMS inspection is to evaluate the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a church school by focusing on the effect that the Christian ethos has on the children who attend it.

Our last SIAMS inspection took place on 1st May 2012. Some of the findings were:

Hyde Primary School is a good school where the Christian values of care and respect for others are lived out on a daily basis.

School leaders and governors have a clear vision of the Christian ethos of the school and Christian values permeate the daily life of the school.

Children enjoy the family atmosphere of the school:  they are confident and demonstrate good self-esteem.

Children’s behaviour is very good. The excellent and well established buddy system works very well. In some cases friendships that are established through this system last well beyond the primary school. Any conflicts are resolved through the principles of reconciliation and justice. Children demonstrate very good social skills.

Relationships between all members of the school community are good. The Christian values of trust, respect for each other and truth have a significant impact on the relationships between all stakeholders.

Children enjoy the opportunities to lead worship in the local church for the major Christian festivals; these visits also enable them to develop their understanding of Anglican tradition and practice.

The school’s Christian values impact on the children to enhance their personal development, enabling them to flourish as individuals.
