Hyde Church of England Primary School

Going to school regularly is important for your child's future and a high level of school attendance is essential if they are to reach their full educational potential. Children who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work and do less well in exams.

In contrast, children who attend school regularly:

  • make better progress, both socially and academically
  • find school routines, school work and friendships easier to cope with
  • find learning more satisfying
  • are more successful in transferring between primary school, secondary school, and higher education, employment or training

At Hyde School we are committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all our pupils and endeavour to provide an environment where all children feel valued and welcome. All children have the right to access the education to which they are entitled and parents and teachers share the responsibility for supporting and promoting excellent school attendance and punctuality for all. As a school we consistently strive to achieve a goal of 100% attendance for all children.

HCC Attendance Guidance for Parents -What Parents Can Do To Help Ensure Good Attendance at School

All schools are required to record details of pupils’ attendance and absence at school and do so at the beginning of morning and afternoon sessions. Therefore, if your child is absent, you must let us know on the first day of absence the reason why your child is away.

Attendance Policy 2016

Since September 2015, new rules have been in place relating to term time absence and the issuing of fixed term penalty notices for non-attendance at school under some circumstances.  It is important that you read the leaflets below so that you understand the implications for you and your family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school or Hampshire County Council.
